doggy diapers- who has used them?

I have an old, male, incontinent, 90 pound dog. I just bought (online so it hasn't arrived yet) a washable, reusable dog diaper and pads. Has anyone used them and, if so, what was your experience with them? Any hints, tips or advice is appreciated. As a side note, my boy has been to the vet and drugs will not help the incontinence; my only recourse is a diaper.
