Adoption or Rescue - Golden Retriever Puppies Make Great Pets
Shelters have lots of dogs that are available from rescue or drop off for adoption. Every kind of dog you can think of of course, From an Affenpinscher to a Yorkshire Terrier and every dog in between there are many reasons shelter dogs make great pets.
Of course, my first choice is the golden retriever - puppies, adults or anywhere in between. If you are bringing home a new golden retriever puppy, there are some basics you are going to need.
A Vet
It is so super important to find a vet that you trust and like. You want a vet that specializes in dogs, and it's not a bad idea to get one thats a surgeon. The best thing to do is to ask around at a local dog club to find a few good vets that you can interview.
A Doggy Den
A create is a smart thing to buy for your new dog. There are so many advantages to getting your dog a crate. First of all, it's her private space where she can go if she wants some solace. Secondly, it helps with potty training and makes it simpler. Third, its a great place for the dog to sleep and provides her with consistency in her sleeping routine and placement.
Accessories
Dog toys, chew toys, balls and frisbees are all great accessories. You want an abundance of chewy toys for golden's because they have an inborn need to chew. While you're at it, you should get some games to challenge your doggy's mind. It's just as important and keeping his body fit.
Trainer
It's a good idea to line up a trainer before you get your Golden. The reason is when you need some help and maybe you will and maybe you won't, then you have a name lined up that you can call. Doing your leg work ahead of time can save alot of hassles.
Parks and Walking Routes
It's a good idea to give some though to you newly adopted golden retriever puppies walking route and exercise routine. You need to walk him or her daily for at least 45 minutes. So it's good to have a plan ahead of time.
Discipline
Its important to give some thought to your routine and how you want your dog to fit in. It's important to realize that your dog needs confident leadership in his pack leader. Give some thought to where he will sleep, when he will be walked and how you are going to keep him on the straight and narrow. This means having treats available for the correct behavior, a decent leash and collar for walking and training and a consistent well thought out approach to her discipline. Give some thought to potty training, training for the walk, where he is allowed to go in the house and where he's not allowed to go.
Food and Water
Keep in mind your dog will need a food that suits his current stage of life. A puppy needs a special of nutrients with higher fats and proteins as he grows. Later in life his diet requirements will change somewhat. The important thing to note is it's smart to have worked this out before she arrives home.
You will enjoy your new puppies even more if you are prepared for their arrival. Following these few tips will make your experiencing that much more enjoyable.
