bela lugosi's dracula- what is the medal/ necklace?
in scenes of the 1930's film "Dracula" starring Bela, he is show wearing at times either a large medal with a wide ribbon, or a thin chain necklace with some kind of charm/pendant. What is the medal? where is it from, what does it say, why was it given? also, what is the little charm on the end of the thin necklace?
I've wondered about this too - As far as I know, the medal (actually a silver medallion) worn by Lugosi as Dracula was a personal possession of his. It looks like some kind of war medal (Lugosi was actually awarded one after fighting in WWI- whether its the same one in the film, I don't know)......in the book Dracula talks of fighting in wars and his country and is very proud of it so it could well have been something he would have worn- maybe the medal in the film is a reference to that because he doesn't mention anything about wars or fighting in the film.
The necklace I really have no idea about, I can only guess its just a normal decorative necklace or maybe with a pocket watch at the end which looks like its tucked into his shirt. The charm/pendant looks kind of like a diamond but its hard to tell, it could be a button on the shirt from the position of it.
