What Removes Cat Urine?
Owning a cat is great, if you take care of it. Then you get a companion that is cute and always there. The best part about owning a cat is, in general, they can take care of themselves. However, there are the few troubles along the way. A good example is wondering what to do with your cat when they urinate in the house. How do you get rid of it? Cat urine doesn't exactly add a nice fragrance to your house.
There are several ways to get rid of the smells off of general surfaces. We will go over some of the most common places that cats will urinate in the house.
1. Hardwood Floors. If you don't treat these quickly the urine will rot the wood and you will end up having to sand down the area and then reseal it. Start by wiping it up and then applying a 50% water 50% white vinegar mix. Clean it up with warm water and your favorite odor and bacteria remover.
If you don't have any product to remove the odor you might have to sand it down and reseal it. It is essential to get rid of the odor, or else the cat will urinate in the same area.
2. Furniture. To get rid of the smell and the stain you will first want to mix a tablespoon of white vinegar and cup of water. Then take a towel or other absorbent cloth and blot the area without using the mixture. Get as much of the stain out as you can without using the mixture. Once you have done that apply the vinegar and water mix. Use a bristle brush and rub in a circular motion, outside to the inside.
Next use a stain/odor remover on the spot and rub that in and wash it out. This will kill the bacteria and the enzymes that cause the disgusting smell. If you donít have a product meant for this type of stain you can use a different product as long as it doesnít have ammonia and does have 3% hydrogen peroxide. Apply it to the area, wait for 5 minutes then dab it with a cloth, then press for 30 seconds. Keep doing that process until you have removed the stain.
3. Carpet is a little more difficult to get the stain out. If the urine is partly dry then you will want to take the half cup of vinegar and quart water mixture and sprinkle it on the spot. Then put dry towels over the stain and place something heavy on top of the towels. Leave it for a couple of hours then brush the carpet with a bristle brush and apply a deodorizer.
Another technique is to apply baking soda, scrub it in and then vacuum it up two hours later. Each of these ways would still require that you use some sort of product on it as well as the water/vinegar or baking soda. If the stain has been there for a while you might want to invest in a wet-vac or similar product to try and get the leftover stain and odor out of the carpet.
There are many ways to remove a cat urination stain, but it is best to prevent the stain from occurring in the first place. Provide your cat with a clean, private area to use. Make sure they have someone to watch them if you are going on long trips.

What brand of cat food is best for overweight cats?
I have 2 cats. They are both overweight. We feed them Purina Naturals or something like that. We want the best, dry cat food designed specifically for overweight cats. They are adults, 5 and 9 years old. We feed them 1/3 of a cup twice a day, once in the morning, and once at night. We give them snacks throughout the day as well. I think we are feeding them too much. What do you think?

I am a fan of Science Diet, though many people are not. I like the variety available. Since cats are grazers, I feed my guys about 1/4 of a cup each twice a day, sometimes less depending on the amount of running around they do. I use the "less active" formula, and sometimes the light, and sometimes the sensitive stomach formula, which is nice for their coats.
Weigh your cats, and look at them. Do their bellies graze the floor when they are standing? When they are sitting with their backs to you do they present a very triangular shape? Then they can afford to lose a bit of weight. Remember that different kinds of cats have different needs, and a Maine Coon cat might weigh 18 pounds and be healthy, while a Siamese cat might weigh 6 pounds and be healthy. I have 2 longhairs, and the himalayan weighs 12.5 pounds and could lose, and the persian weighs 8.5 and could gain, and they eat the same amount!
